Penis enlargement surgery: Is it really effective?

There are two main types of surgery to increase penis size: one is to increase length and the other is to increase width. Although these surgeries are available to anyone, they are not offered as they are considered only a cosmetic enhancement to the body.

Furthermore, this type of surgery often does not bring the expected results, and can even cause serious complications such as penis deformation, scarring or infection.

Therefore, the need for penis enlargement surgery should always be discussed with a urologist to understand the benefits and risks in each case.

Width increase operation

Penis enlargement surgery

Surgery to increase the width of the penis can be performed in two ways:

  • Fat injection: Liposuction is performed in another part of the body, such as the sides, abdomen or legs, then some of this fat is injected into the penis to plump and increase volume;
  • Mesh placement: An artificial and biodegradable mesh with cells is placed under the skin and around the shaft of the penis to provide additional volume.

Depending on the type of surgery and each specific case, penis diameter can increase from 1. 4 to 4 cm.

In all cases, there is a high risk: fat injections can lead to penile deformation, whereas with mesh placement, for example, infection is more common.

Length increase surgery

When the goal is to increase penis size, surgery is often recommended to cut the ligaments connecting the penis to the pubic bone, allowing the penis to sink deeper and appear larger.

Although this surgery can increase the size of the flaccid penis by about 2 cm, this is often not noticed when the penis is in an erect position. Additionally, because the ligaments are cut, many men report a decrease in the height of their penis when erect, which can make intimate contact difficult.

How does recovery work?

Recovery from penis enlargement surgery is relatively quick and you can return to work within 1 week of the procedure.

In most cases, you can go home the next day after surgery; you should just rest at home until the stitches are removed and follow some recommendations, including taking pain medication andanti-inflammatory medication prescribed by your doctor, as well as keeping your penis dry and clean.

You should only restart having sex after 6 weeks or as directed by your doctor, and more intense exercises such as jogging or going to the gym should only start after 3 to 6 months.

Other penis enlargement options

Other solutions available for penis enlargement are the use of pills or vacuum pumps, which increase blood flow to the genitals and can therefore make the penis feel larger.

Additionally, when you are overweight, the penis can become covered with fat, so a urologist may also recommend liposuction of the private area, which helps remove excess fat and, for example, helps open up the shaft of the penis wellthan.
